FAQ

When can we expect our wedding films to be delivered?

Your First Film arrives within the first two weeks, while everyone’s still talking about the wedding. If your Collection includes Home Movies, those will start finding their way back to you as soon as the day after your wedding.

Your Wedding Film takes a little longer. Standard delivery is 8–16 weeks, depending on the season and what I have to work with. Sometimes, it gets done sooner than that.

I don’t love disappearing with your wedding for months. You’ll start getting pieces of it back long before the final film is finished.

I prefer phone calls or meeting in person. Can we just do that instead?

Dude! Of course! I prefer the human-to-human things. Either scroll to the bottom of this page, or head over to my contact page where you can find my phone number.

Why a camcorder? And what are your Home Movies?

Camcorder footage isn’t for everyone. I get it. There was a time when I probably would have scoffed at the thought of using one at a wedding. Clean, pretty, and cinematic was the goal.

But there’s a kind of energy the camcorder captures that a traditional camera doesn’t. It’s candid, imperfect, personal, and sometimes a little chaotic. Pretty much like life actually is.

I shoot with a mid-1990’s Hi8 camcorder throughout the day, but I’ll also hand it over to your people and let them run with it. Friends interview each other. Someone disappears with it. Things get said. Chaos ensues. That’s the point.

I want you and the people you love captured as genuinely as possible. Digital gives me one perspective. The camcorder gives me another - and sometimes, your people give me one I never could have captured myself.

Home Movies are where those perspectives start coming together. Sometimes my digital camera and the camcorder catch the same moment from completely different sides. Sometimes the camcorder comes back with something I never even knew happened.

I turn those discoveries into little edited memories that can start finding their way back to you while everyone’s still talking about the wedding - something to watch, send to your friends, and immediately relive.

And some of them might eventually find their way into your Wedding Film too.

Do you offer Raw Footage?

I do! Audio included. I’ll even send it on its own storage drive. Just keep in mind that raw means raw - it won’t be color corrected, polished or look anything like your finished film. Ask me about adding it when you reach out.

Are you going to make us pose all day?

Not if I can help it. The footage that makes me smile the most while I’m editing wedding films is usually the stuff nobody planned. The dumb laughs. Fixing your fiancé’s hair. Your friends messing with you. And all the little things that happen when you forget I’m there.

That doesn’t mean I’ll never step in. During things like portraits or a first look, I might suggest some movement or keep a moment going a little longer so your photographer and I can get the good stuff. But I never want your wedding to feel like a production.

You should spend your wedding actually being at your wedding. I’ll worry about the cameras.

How does payment work? Do you offer installments?

A 35% retainer locks in your date, with the remaining balance due two weeks before the wedding.

And I’m happy to work out installments. Wedding planning is expensive enough. I’m not here to make it harder.

Can you travel for our wedding? Where are you based?

I’m in Los Angeles, but I love to travel. Whenever I go somewhere, I make a little travel vignette video so I can re-experience it years later. So yes - I’d happily pack my cameras and come tell your story wherever you are in the world.

(please be Canada…please be Canada…)

How long will our Wedding Film be?

It depends on the wedding. Most of my Wedding Films land somewhere around 8–15 minutes, but I don’t edit toward a stopwatch.

Some weddings give me more conversations. More interviews. More of your people being themselves. More moments that deserve room to breathe.

If your Wedding Film wants another three minutes, it gets another three minutes. I’m not cutting something worth keeping just to hit a number.

What are your favorite movies?

Ah no not this one! The other ones were easier.

I guess if I were to walk you through my life, I grew up on Jurassic Park and Toy Story, thrived during my teens with The Matrix and Almost Famous, and typically tend to enjoy a range between existential stuff, coming-of-age stories, and shameless comedies. That’s just like, my opinion, man.
